MAKING MOVIES WITH WINDOWS XP
Course Description
Students will learn how to use their digital cameras to quickly capture and edit their photos and video clips to produce polished, animated movies using Windows Movie Maker and Photo Story 3.  These free, and easy-to-use Windows XP programs allow you to create, edit, and share your photos and movies on your PC.  We will also learn how to add transitions, special effects, music and overlay narration as well as
use Movie Maker’s AutoMovie feature which allows you to share your video by saving it to your computer, to a recordable CD or DVD, or as an attachment to an email.

Class Prerequisites:
bulletKnowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office

Week 1 - Introduction to Movie Maker

First Hour: Overview of Movie Maker

bulletC. Intro to digital camera capture methods

Second Hour: Create a simple movie "My First Movie" (e.g. MyFirstMovie.wmv)

bulletImport photos (1.jpg - 5.jpg) and audio file (Beethoven's Symphony No. 9)
bulletAdd Transitions and Special Effects in the Timeline
bulletAdd Titles, Overlays and Credits.  Save your movie

Week 2 - Introduction to Photo Store 3

First Hour: Overview of Photo Story 3

bullet How to download Photo Story 3 from Microsoft
bullet Photo Story 3 Resources:  Online Tutorials
bulletInstructor demos: "Alaska640" and "Panama640"

Second Hour: Create a simple Photo Story "My Second Movie" (e.g., MySecondMovie.wmv)

bullet Import photos to Photo Story 3. Add titles. Add motion to your photos
bulletCreate or Select Music.  Save your Photo Story
bulletCreate a 1-2 minute video using Photo Story 3, (e.g. "China Beach" PS_ChinaBeach_640.wmv)

Week 3 - Combine Movie Maker and Photo Story 3

First Hour: Add PS3 to Movie Maker to create "My Third Movie" (e.g., MyThirdMovie.wmv)

bullet Import your "MySecondMovie.wmv" into Movie Maker
bullet Import both Photos & Movie Clip: e.g., "The Virtual Den" (den1.wmv), (CinqueTerre3.wmv)
bulletCapture and edit video clips.  Split, combine and trim clips

Second Hour: Individual Student Presentations

bulletCapture CD audio files.  Download Creativity packs from Microsoft
bulletImport and demonstrate student video files
bulletHomework: Create a two minute movie.  e.g." Dirty3.wmv"

Week 4 - Create a Video Project

First Hour: Tell a story of a person, event, animal or object

bullet Discuss uploading your video to Video Hosting Web Sites

Second Hour: Individual Student Presentations
